What to expect from a Hypnosis Session
Before the Session
Before you arrive at your hypnosis session, your therapists will ask you to do a few things to prep. For example, they'll recommend you don't drink a lot of coffee or alcohol. Also, try not to have a heavy meal before the session. Some advice against wearing uncomfortable or tight clothing to the session. It's best to wear something comfortable and loose so you can move around with ease.
Before you start the session, you might want to think about the answers to these questions.
- What is it that you want?
- What is stopping you from achieving it?
- How hard are you willing to work for it?
The job of your therapist will be to guide you during the session to get the answers to those questions.
During the Hypnosis Session
For the first session, you might want to clear your schedule for at least an hour and a half. You will spend some time talking and answering questions before the real work begins. The therapist will want to spend some time listening to the source of your issue. It's important to identify the issue and triggers that might lead to it. Your therapist will also explain to you what to expect and answer any additional questions you might have. They'll make sure you feel comfortable in the room and space.
Once all of the housekeeping steps are out of the way, it's time you begin your journey to relaxation.
- You should expect to feel relaxed and calm while still feeling a mental awareness. The session is meant to make you feel aware, relaxed and positive about the situation.
- Transitioning to Awakens
After your hypnotherapist thinks you've relaxed and explored your subconscious mind for that session, the process of waking you up with begin. Don't worry, the therapist won't snap his fingers at you to wake you up. The therapist will slowly transition you back into full awareness. The process is done slowly as many people are very relaxed and have a hard time waking up. Once you're fully awake you can ask your therapist any questions you might have and talk about the overall experience.
- After Awakens
After the first session
The work might not be done. You should schedule a second session so you can discuss tools you can use at home so you can remain relaxed. If you liked the session and the work you achieved, you might want to continue with hypnotherapy.
